project overview
The challenge

The DF Space consultancy firm encountered several challenges that needed to be addressed in the course of designing their brand and website. Their existing WordPress website demanded constant maintenance, frequently experienced crashes, and required ongoing oversight and updates. This persistent need for hands-on management hindered their efficiency and client interactions. Additionally, they were dissatisfied with the performance and design of their previous website. On top of these technical obstacles, DF Space required a brand identity that would effectively convey their core values and mission, enabling them to resonate more strongly with their target audience and reflect their expertise across various sectors. The challenge was twofold: to create a website that offered reliability and ease of management while designing a brand identity that encapsulated their unique vision and values.

The outcome

The outcome of the project entailed the creation of a brand-new Webflow website for DF Space, which not only resolved their previous website issues but also provided a fresh and trustworthy online presence. In terms of brand identity, the logo and wordmark were meticulously designed to align with DF Space's unique approach and business offerings. The incorporation of a perfect circle within the word mark symbolises space and unity while the letter D stands for perfection, completion, and unity. These elements reflect the holistic nature of DF Space's consultancy services and their ability to provide comprehensive and transformative solutions. The united circles within the logo signify clear guidance and direction, fostering communication and unity between DF Space and its clients, thereby simplifying the complexities of risk and compliance. This brand identity captures their values and expertise, reinforcing their position in the industry.

The approach

The approach taken in designing the brand identity and website for DF Space was rooted in a blend of creativity and practicality. It began with a comprehensive understanding of DF Space's values, mission, and the unique services they offer. This understanding guided the creation of a brand identity that resonated with the consultancy's holistic approach to problem-solving and its commitment to unity and clarity. The logo design, incorporating a perfect circle within the letter D, was a deliberate choice to symbolise space, perfection, and unity. This visual representation perfectly encapsulated DF Space's ability to provide clear and comprehensive solutions to their clients. The website, developed on Webflow, was designed with a focus on user-friendliness and functionality, addressing the maintenance issues that had plagued their previous WordPress site. The overall approach aimed to present DF Space as a reliable, forward-thinking consultancy with an elegant and modern online presence, aligned with their values and mission.

the process:

The process followed in designing the brand identity and website for DF Space was marked by thorough research, creative exploration, and meticulous execution:

  1. Research and Discovery: The journey began with in-depth research into DF Space's industry, values, and competitors. This phase involved studying their mission, understanding their unique approach to consultancy, and identifying areas of improvement in their previous website and brand identity.
  2. Brand Identity Creation: With the insights from the research, the brand identity was crafted. The design of the wordmark and logo, with the prominent circle within the letter D, was aimed at reflecting the core values of DF Space – unity, clarity, and perfection. The united circles symbolized the close partnership between DF Space and its clients.
  3. Website Development: The decision to switch from a WordPress website to Webflow was based on the need for a more stable, user-friendly, and efficient platform. The new website was built from the ground up, focusing on a clean, modern design and user-friendly navigation. This included implementing features and functionalities aligned with the business's goals.
  4. User Testing and Feedback: The new website and brand identity underwent rigorous testing to ensure seamless user experience and functionality. Feedback from potential users and stakeholders was considered and implemented, further refining the design.
  5. Integration of Values: Throughout the design process, the core values and mission of DF Space were integrated into every aspect, from visual elements to content. The aim was to ensure that the brand and website genuinely represented the consultancy's identity.
  6. Final Touches and Launch: After multiple iterations and refinements, the brand identity and website were ready for launch. The final stages involved ensuring all elements worked cohesively, from visuals to functionality, ready to present DF Space to the world.

The process was a harmonious blend of creativity, user-centered design, and technical expertise, with the primary goal of providing DF Space with a powerful online presence aligned with its mission and values.

THE web design
PROCESS

For me, steps to design a website requires 7 steps:

  1. Goal identification: Where I work with the client to determine what goals the new website needs to fulfils. (for example, what its purpose is).
  2. Scope definition: Once we know the site's goals, we can define the scope of the project. I.e., what web pages and features the site requires to fulfils the goal, and the timeline for building those out.
  3. Sitemap and wireframe creation: With the scope well-defined, we can start digging into the sitemap, defining how the content and features we defined in scope definition will interrelate.
  4. Content creation: Now that we have a bigger picture of the site in mind, we can start creating content for the individual pages, always keeping search engine optimisation (SEO) in mind to help keep pages focused on a single topic.
  5. Visual elements: With the site architecture we can start design the UI of the website following the brand identity guideline (if there is one).
  6. Testing: By now, we've got all your pages and defined how they display to the site visitor, so it's time to make sure it all works.
  7. Launch: Once everything's working beautifully, it's time to plan and execute your site launch! This should include planning both launch timing and communication strategies .

Conclusion

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
